Does wave have customizable invoices/templates?

To some degree. They have three templates, you can set an accent color (any hex color code), and customize which columns to show / hide.
Personally I’ve been using them for 2.5 years and very happy with them. Their invoices look clean, payment logging is very flexible and it’s always fast and reliable. And best of all, it’s all free. It was even better when they still offered Stripe integration for customers outside of North America, but even now it’s still great for me as a European, being able to invoice with Wave and take payment through Wise.
