3 quick questions. Why do newly minted coins (Canada, US, British, Australian, etc. ) cost less than those even a year or two older?
Are the “mint direct” plastic encased coins, sometimes with what appears to be better security with cards and encrypted serial #s, worth the ~$10 increase in premium over a 10 count gold plastic encased stack?
Can the plastic encased coins, with the apparent security increase, be tested for gold purity without opening up the plastic encased coin/card?
Would testing for % purity require only a small slit in the plastic case? Or would I need need to be completely removed, weighed and purity tested?
These may seem like like minor points to you. But I trust No One. I want the coins to be able to be tested by sophisticated modern weight, density, volume and mass spectrometry methods.
