WordPress or coding web apps from scratch with HTML CSS and JavaScript? As software application designers, why do we find out to code web apps with JavaScript when we can simply utilize WordPress? We’ll compare WordPress with hand coding, see that WordPress and coding with HTML CSS and JavaScript aren’t much various, and why I suggest software application designers to find out WordPress. 1. I’ve learned in only 2-3 hours the basics on how to build a custom WordPress theme
I’m using it those skills to build a website with a blog part for an Architecture Company.
Gotta admit, WordPress saved me for the blog part.
My client use the graphic editor to add blog posts without even needing me.

  2. WordPress is a CMS and NOT a “Framework”.

You can actually use frameworks to build a site from ground up and convert it to a WP theme.

WordPress is a CMS that was created with PHP and it uses something called WP Loops to generate content for the Frontpage.

You still didn’t correctly define WordPress.

  3. I think there’s two type of people commenting in videos like this, and they all assume everybody is interested in the same path they’ve chosen. On one hand there’s the people who are either employed or looking to get employed in a webdesign company and swear to learning html, css, javascript, commercial frameworks and back-end. And on the other hand there’s the people who are thinking about freelancing or already freelancing on full time and swear to learning wordpress, shopify and similar cms platforms. Before you take advice from anybody you should know who you’re talking to first, because they all assume you’re in the same boat as them and they’ll give you good, but the wrong advice.

I don’t know why anybody looking to get hired in a webdesign company would study wordpress, and I don’t know why anybody looking to begin freelancing would study programming. You should know some basic programming and you should know some basic cms regardless of which path you take, but spending time and effort into learning something you strictly don’t need is just slowing you down and wasting your time. Until you’ve mastered the skills you need first, you shouldn’t focus on learning any other (freelancing is not just about learning wordpress btw, you also have to learn running your own business and manage clients).

And yes I know there will be a lot of people saying “oh but I’m a freelancer and I code everything myself in addition to wordpress” or “oh but I’m employed at a web company and we use wordpress in addition to hand coding”. Yea, if you already get paid to make websites this question isn’t really for you, you’ve made your choices and invested the time, and more power to you! This question is really about being efficient with your time and not what is superior. Knowing everything is obviously superior.

  4. how can I make plugins like woo commerce, dokan etc(to increase functionality of wordpress). Do I need to know programming or I can build them on wp too?

  5. Thankyou so much for this video, only a few months into web development here and can say whole heartedly this video clarified so much!

  6. Thank you. I’m a Life Support /CPR trainer. When you mention you would not recommend Getting a WordpPess Job, is that meaning WordPress wouldn’t be a good idea for creating a website for Students to sign up and pay for classes? ( to put it simply) ? I’m new to this.. Also how can i find out if WordPress has a quick page loading response time ( 3-5 seconds) ? Thanks for the great info!!!

    1. He is referencing actual developers. If someone gets their degree for CS or wants to free lance or whatever and land a job, they have to be proficient in coding with actual JS, css, HTML etc. That’s where the jobs and money are for people in computer science. Since you’re just looking to start a simple website and have the students sign up and pay for classes, I’m sure this will work out great for you.

    2. Yup, I would recommend using WordPress for that, specifically the MemberPress plugin. WordPress job means a software developer who goes in and changes code inside WordPress themes/plugins, which you don’t need to do if you’re just using WordPress to run a business or service

  7. Not to intrude on your video, but I’m looking for a developer to help add some features to my website, is this something you do or can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

  8. The only thing I don’t like in wordpress is that if you aren’t knowledgeable in basic web programming you can’t easily make a website of your own and the plugins in wordpress are sometimes free but if you want the full features of the selected plugin you need to pay a certain amount which sucks for me if you’re a beginner in web programming.

  9. I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of WordPress. Messy docs, performance isn’t great in my experience for larger projects, confusing and unintuitive UI, coupling of content and code architecture, and some other reasons I won’t get into. But I also think it’s a good tool with solid use cases.
