  1. The best time to buy silver and gold is when it is not being hyped/talked about. I am a numismatist (coin collector) and enjoy collecting (type coins and classic commemoratives).
Gold: I recommend British Sovereigns (about 1/4 ounce, low premiums, and a beautiful coin. The British Secret Service would sew them into their belts to be used in emergencies since gold is recognized world wide). Buy from a reputable coin dealer (Abbott’s Coins here in metro-Detroit is great).

The premiums you pay to acquire or sell your Gold (i.e., through an online platform) are astronomical! This isn’t discussed enough and I wish it were. If I buy gold today, its value in monetary terms is $1,779/ ounce. It costs $1,942 to aquire it, roughly $163/ounce. This means that if I sell $100k of equities to “diversify” and buy some gold with it, that’ll cost me over $8,000! Gulp. And this doesn’t include how much it costs to sell it. Basically the price of Gold would have to increase substantially for me to get my money back after a full transaction (buy/sell). And silver has far worse premiums(+75% buy premiums). Unless you are: (1) buying right at spot rate, (2) comparing the holding of Gold with putting your money under your mattress – or a basic savings account (not remotely advisable for any material amount of cash), (3) like to look at your gold, or (4) don’t trust the financial system and believe gold is going to perhaps “bail you out someday”, I can’t see the aquistion of gold (compared to placing your money in an asset that gives you a return, say a dividend yielding ETF, for example) anything close to a good decision for most reasonable people desiring to generate a real ROI on thier assets. That’s what I can gather. But if you’re doing it for 1 of these 4 reasons, then fine.

  3. I am brand new to tangible assets like precious metals. For someone in their late 20s interested in a first purchase, any recommendations on whether to introduce myself to gold, silver, or a little of both? Thanks

Yeah, that blade shape looked familiar. I have a knife collection. It’s nothing in the price range of the Norseman but they’re fun to collect.

  4. I like your thinking. Let’s hope it doesn’t go up in price but the older I get the more certain I am that it will. It’s a hedge against bad government and central bank decisions.

  5. Dont fall for the “buy and hold” strategy on Silver any longer. The price of silver has went DOWN in recent years. And inflation has been going UP, so virtually everybody lost. In the meantine, people have been making an absolute killin’ in the sports card market.

$$$$$ – Always on the lookout for 2020-21 Mosaic Lamelo Ball Rookie RC Cards & NBA Debut. Whether they are Silver Prizm, Silver Mosaic, Gold Wave, Genisis, Reactive Yellow, Reactive Orange, or even base…I’m buying them all!!! This kid will be the next Jordan in 10 years – REAL TALK!!. Investment opportunity of a lifetime!!! Mosaic are grading superior to every other Chrome cartd such as Prizm, Select, Spectra, Optic etc. Much better centering, less factory defects. – $$$$$

  6. I like gold and silver because it is outside the banking system but also I don’t want to keep too much cash since even the Bible talks about how in the end times, a loaf of bread can be bought for a wheelbarrow of cash. I’d rather have something with real value and not fiat money!

  7. cool, bought a 1kg bar of silver last week. more so for the novelty factor. i don’t expect gold and silver prices to take off. people buy crypto these days instead of metals
