P1000 is a good little light for the money. You can drop it to 5% making it good for seeds/cuttings. I use up to the end of early veg in a 2×2.

hey, another thing to consider which may be useful for some people is the maximum ambient operating temps on hot days. i have a viparspectra light i picked up about a year and a half -2 years ago and it has a warning about operating on a 40degree day which is common here in australia in summer.

Have you had a chance to look at the BLOOMSPECT SS line on Amazon? They have the same quality components but are way cheaper. I wonder if it’s too good to be true. I’m shopping around for 4 lights from these Amazon sellers in the 4000 (400W) category. The BLOOMSPECT’S are so cheap ($199 when they came out) you can get 4 SS4000 for under $1k but the ViparSpectra’s XS’s are proven, which are the ones I like.

The optimal efficiency of most mid-power LED chips comes from a power consumption of 0.2W per chip.
Many manufacturers make 0.4-0.5W per chip to reduce cost.
For example, the spider farmer sf1000 uses a total of 218 led chips.
This is 0.45w per chip by simple calculation.
According to power efficiency graphs in manufacturer specifications, LED chips get brighter as they use more power, but get hotter and less power efficient.
maxsisun mf1000 uses cheaper and lower efficiency samsung 281b chip
It uses 350 led chips for 100w, 0.28w per chip
samsung 301b chip is 220lm/w
samsung 281b+ chip is 165lm/w
However, there are cases where products on the market have a small difference in efficiency between products using 301b chips and products using 281b chips, or products using 281b chips have higher efficiency (migrow array)
