As a practicing dental professional, I see several victims which may be aided by orthodontic treatment, also when the well worth is largely charm. Previous the charm benefit of orthodontics, there are numerous oral and also skeletal problems that orthodontist can manage in more youthful patients that may need procedure later on in life.

A lot of talk has been made out their with companies such as smilediredt and the like. Thanks for the video and shedding light into this topic! I agree with ya!
Beyond Dentistry
One Mission DMD Thanks so much! It will be interesting to see what happens with Smile Direct in the future for sure.

With companies like smile direct club appearing, do you think that orthodontics as a specialty will remain stable, or will there be less demand for orthos in the future?
Beyond Dentistry
That’s a great question, it really depends who you ask.
In my opinion, ortho will remain a great specialty. It takes a lot of skill to do ortho well. The stuff I have seen from smile direct has not been impressive.
It honestly might come down to public perception. If the public is consistently expecting “good“ results, orthodontics as a specialty will have a bright future. If people really want something cheap, and they don’t care if the result is crappy, then direct to consumer aligners and GPs doing bad ortho could become the standard. I’m holding out hope for the former 🙂

Great videos. I’m a dentist and I appreciate your honesty. I have been interested in making some videos not necessarily about dentistry. What type of camera do you use? What editing software? And do you edit video with ‘youtube edit’ or develop video and then load on YouTube? thanks
Beyond Dentistry
Hey John, thanks so much for the encouragement! That really means a lot!
I use a cannon m50 with a sigma 16mm lens and I edit in adobe premiere pro. If you want, send me an email (my email address is in the “about” section on my channel page), and I can send you some photos of my setup and more detail.
You can start a youtube channel with a smartphone if you want to. If you have some videos you want to do, I would say go for it!

That’s really helpful, sir a doubt please🙋♀️? Do teeth braces cause cancer? Oral cancer? I mean, plastic braces does? Or metal? Wt to do to avoid this danger?
Beyond Dentistry
Thank you for watching! There is no link between oral cancer and orthodontic appliances. Everything orthodontists use should be medical grade, including plastic braces. If you think about how much plastic we are exposed to (water bottles, food containers, synthetic materials for clothing, etc.) plastic braces should not make a large difference. That is only my opinion, but I have never seen any research to suggest in issue with any orthodontic appliance.
Also, if you think about it, many patients (older and younger) wear plastic dentures all day for decades. If there is a link between plastic in the mouth and cancer, I think it would have been seen by now. Hopefully that helps!

@Beyond Dentistry Yeah u r absolutely right Sir. I witnessed a friend of mine got mouth cancer as she had 3 monthly gap checkup and her dentist avoided the pain she complained about. Sadly, she’s no more now. Can u suggest something to avoid such a situation as I recently got my metal braces? thank u
Beyond Dentistry
@Haani Sultan I am so sorry to hear about your friend. The best think you can do is pay attention to any lumps or bumps or sores. Anything that persists for more than 2 weeks should have an evaluation from an oral surgeon. Even then, most lumps and bumps in the mouth are not cancer. There are many things that cause sores and bumps. The most common areas to watch are the sides of the tongue, and the floor of the mouth (underneath the tongue).
But if you do not see any lumps or bumps right now, I would not worry, and I would not worry about your braces at all. And definitely ask your dentist if you have any questions or concerns!

@Beyond Dentistry Ok sir, glad u cleared my doubt 😇Good day, tysm.
