Thick or thin…

I have actually seen these …

… occasionally however I never ever felt likely to purchase them to consume. My sis, on the other hand, stated that she enjoyed them more than the thin ones when I informed her that they are offering these at the Chinese pancake or restriction chang kuih ( 慢煎糕)/ apam balik stall in the next lane round the corner from my home.

One great day, I chose to purchase some house and it ended up that my lady enjoyed them a lot too. Ever since, I would purchase for her whenever I occur to be around there in the afternoon.

They are 50 sen each …

… and when there are any left over, we will keep them in the refrigerator and heat them up for breakfast the next early morning.

I like to utilize those grill pans with lines or ridges to do that although it is a lot easier to position them on a tray and put them in the oven for a while. They are great when piping hot, directly from the oven however in some way, when they have actually gone cold, they will turn difficult and no, they will not be so great any longer when they resemble that.

I did not understand what they are called– I would simply describe them as the thick chai peah rather than the thin ones …

… which are a bit less expensive– 5 for RM2.00. The man informed me that they are called taugeh peah by virtue of those couple of hairs of bean sprouts in them.

When consumed hot, they are great and crusty on the outdoors and type of chewy or rubbery on the within …

By The Way, for the inexperienced, these are mouth-watering, not sweet. I can end up 2 or 3, a minimum of, in one sitting!

My missus made this chili dip …

… for her boiled pork that day and there was some left over in the refrigerator. I took it out and included 2 cili padi, cut into thin bits to consume the taugeh peah with …

… and it was so so great however personally, I choose the thin and crispy ones, the chai peah … to these thick ones, the taugeh peah What about you?

The Chinese pancake or restriction chang kuih ( 慢煎糕)/ apam balik stall …

lies on the pavement outside the TCM center along Jalan Ruby in between Kim Won Grocery Store & & Medical Shop and Swee Hung.
