A number of years back I began a physical fitness journey which journey resulted in me running the 2 Oceans Half Marathon and the start of my relationship with the I Am Water Structure … ever since I have actually been fortunate, each year to contribute an impressive ocean to swim to an ocean caring organisation, therefore return to the ocean that I enjoy. Ocean caring organisations have actually belonged to my physical fitness journey and my mission for experience, this year I have actually chosen to commit my entire summertime of open water swimming to the I Am Water Structure.

The I Am Water Ocean Structure is an organisation based in Cape Town, that takes kids that live within higher Cape Town location and yet, they do not have a chance to go to the beach. They supply workshops and a total ocean experience to main school kids, where they can discover to enjoy the ocean and end up being a future generation of ocean ambassadors.

First Ocean Swim Occasion of the Season

My very first ocean swim of the season was the Langebaan Express, with Big Bay Occasions, this previous weekend … ideally there will be a lot more swims. The Langebaan Express begins at the southern end of Langebaan lagoon and continues northwards past the popular Pearly’s beach and on to the Mykonos Private Yacht Club.

I need to state that I liked it, I liked the training developing to it, and I liked the occasion. It was a terrific experience and I am eagerly anticipating lots more swims in the season ahead.

It is a 12km swim, the very first 6km were great, tide assisted miles and actually flying, and the 2nd 6 km were not(!), the wind turned up, and working versus the tide, the water was rough and it really was a daring swim. I did it, and I enjoyed it … in truth I liked it!!!

So, today is a medal Monday that I am specifically delighted with. This medal, took months of preparation and training, fantastic training, a remarkable group, hours and hours of ocean swimming and major team training. It was all completely, completely worth it. And I am so eagerly anticipating a summertime season of ocean adventuring!!!
